Instructions for Word Merge in Compulink Advantage Software (HW126)
Advanced users can follow the bold highlights. Detailed instructions under bold Headings. Find Entire Path for winword.exe Search for the file: winword.exe Write down ENTIRE path to that file Example: C:\program files\microsoft office\office (your path may differ slightly depending on your version) In System variables, Add entire path of winword.exe (;C:\prog…\…office) to the END of PATH variable Right click on My Computer and choose Properties (or windows+Pause/Break) Select Advanced, then Environment Variables In the System variables window, find and select the variable: Path Choose Edit. At the END of the existing line, ADD a semi colon followed by the entire path for winword.exe ( ;C:\program files\microsoft office\office (or the version you wrote down ). MSWord: Tools, Options, File Location, User Templates, Modify to Eyemd or EYECARE Folder Open Microsoft Word. Select the following tabs: Tools, Options, File locations In the File locations tab, select User Templates. Click the Modify button. Change by browsing to the folder: product folder (Eyemd or Eyecare) (the product folder (Eyemd or Eyecare) should appear on your mapped network drive to the server). Rename file: Normal97.dot to Normal.dot in product folder (Eyemd or Eyecare) Go to the (product folder (Eyemd or Eyecare) folder using My Computer. Look for the file: Normal97 (if your file extension are not hidden, it is NORMAL.DOT) Rename Normal97 to Normal OR rename NORMAL97.DOT to NORMAL.DOT There are different versions of the normal file. If your environment is mixed, use the NORMAL97. For other versions visit the downloads page. Turning on Word Merge in Compulink Advantage Software Utility, Misc./Password, edit, WORD default to Y & SAVE. Open program. Under the Utility Tab, select System Setup Choose the Misc./Password Tab. Enter the Compulink Administrative Password Click the Edit Menu to be able to edit the fields. Tab over to: Use WORD for Windows as Default Word Processor Type "Y" for Yes in the box. Save by clicking the folder icon in the top right corner. The word "WORD" should appear in the bottom right corner of the Advantage window. You may now toggle WORD on and off by pressing F4.
