SYSTEM UPDATES
AND PATCHES
Advantage Software:
How do I know which software version and
which Advantage program file I am currently running?
Once the Compulink software is open on your workstation, the title bar
of the front splash screen will display both the software version number
and the version of the Advantage program file installed on your system.
The title bar displays in the following order: Advantage product being
ran, Version of advantage product, Copyright date, version of advantage
program file, Name of practice, Account number of practice, date of the
advantage program file installed on your system. The example below
displays the following information:
Advantage Product = MD Advantage
Version = 9.0
Copyright date = 2009
Advantage program file version= 9.1.0.1
Name of practice = Compulink Business Systems, Inc.
Account number of practice = 754
Date of advantage program file = 20091118

Where do I find what the most software update is and what is affected by
the update?
Compulink software updates are listed on our "What's new" webpage. This
page can be accessed via clicking on the "Web Site" option in the front
splash screen of the (software version) software and selecting the
"What's New" option. This page can also be accessed by browsing to the
following website address:
http://www.Compulink-Software.com/customer_care/90whatsnew.htm
The title of the pages contains both the most current version of the
Compulink software and the most current program file version. Software
updates are listed in order of file version. This web page displays all
software enhancements, changes and issue corrections based on those
versions.
How can I update my software to the most recent advantage program file?
Software updates can be performed one of two ways. Automatic program
updates through CBSMail, and On Demand updates with the assistance of
Compulink Customer Care.
Note: If the version of software you are currently running does not
match the version on the "What's New" web site, the "On Demand" update
is the only route to take. This is due to the fact that major software
updates can take some time to perform and should be scheduled
accordingly with a Compulink Customer Care representative.
Program updates are performed with the CBSmail software. Instructions
for the setup and use of CBSmail are hereavailable
in the Client Communication > CBSMail section of your Advantage Help
file.
When an updated is downloaded, the CBSmail program will display a
message on the status tab that an upgrade is ready.

Automated updates will display in the "Automated Tasks" tab of CBSMail.
The update will display "Update exe program file" in the description
column. In order for CBSMail to automatically launch the software
update, the product must be closed on all workstations, including the
workstation running CBSMail.

Prior to running the update, it should be confirmed that no system
backups are running. Once the software is closed on all workstations,
CBSmail will trigger the launch of the program update. Once the program
update is ran, the item is removed from the "Automated Tasks" tab.

Use the "Exit' button to close CBSMail. Launch the Advantage software.
How do I know that the update completed successfully?
When launching the software after an update, the splash screen will open
as well as the login prompt. Login to the software. From the front
splash screen, verify that the advantage program file version identified
via the instructions above matches the current advantage program file
version on the "What's New" web site.
So long as these dates match, the update has completed successfully.
Data Integrity checked on launch
When launching the Advantage software, all patient data tables are
checked to ensure the proper structure is present. The software will
display a "Possible Table Corruption" message when the software cannot
properly confirm the structure of one of the tables. When this occurs
contact Compulink's Customer Care at 1-800-888-8075 and a representative
will assist in diagnosing and resolving the issue.
