Instructions for Office 2007 Word Merge and Windows Vista

Find Entire Path for winword.exe

  1. Search for the file: winword.exe
  2. Write down ENTIRE path to the Winword.exe file
  3. Example: C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office12
  4. (your path may differ slightly depending on your version)

In System variables, Add entire path of winword.exe (;C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office12) to the END of PATH variable (a common mistake is to place a space before the semicolon

  1. Right Click Computer under the Start Menu and choose Properties and Left click

  2. Click on Advanced System Settings on the left side

  3. Choose Environment Variables

  4. In the System variables window, find and select the variable: Path

  5. Choose Edit
  6. At the END of the existing line, ADD a semicolon (no spaces before or after) followed by the entire path to winword.exe (;C:\program files\microsoft office\office12 (or the version you wrote down  ).

MSWord: Office Button, Word Options, Advanced, File Location, User Templates, Modify to Eyemd or EYECARE Folder (i.e. X:\EYEMD

  1. Open Microsoft Word
  2. Click on the Office Button (top Left)
  3. Choose Word Options (bottom)
  4. Choose Advanced
  5. Scroll all the way down to File Locations…
  6. In the File locations, select User Templates.
  7. Click the Modify button.
  8. Change by browsing to the folder: product folder (Eyemd or Eyecare)
  9. (the product folder (Eyemd or Eyecare) should appear on your mapped network drive to the server, i.e. X:\EYEMD).

Rename file: Normal97.dot to Normal.dot in product folder (Eyemd or Eyecare)

Go to the (product folder (Eyemd or Eyecare) folder using My Computer.

Look for the file: Normal97 (if your file extension are not hidden, it is NORMAL.DOT)

Rename Normal97 to Normal   OR    rename NORMAL97.DOT to NORMAL.DOT

There are different versions of the normal file.  If your environment is mixed, use the NORMAL97.  For other versions visit the downloads page.
