Cannot Open Compulink Help file - Error Action Cancelled

Problem:

In earlier versions of Microsoft Operating Systems security enhancements were turned off by default. Implementing strict security environments were always the end users prerogative. Due to an increase in malicious codes and spyware, Microsoft has decided to block the execution of all scripts and html codes by default using their latest updates and patches.

All clients using Windows Server 2003, Windows XP and Windows 2000 with the latest Internet Explorer Updates will be blocked from viewing all help files over the network or locally including the Advantage help files (i.e. EYEMD.CHM) unless the security enhancements are turned off or bypassed.  IT department recommends a copy of the help file be placed locally on the workstation for viewing if running in an RDP session (terminal serer mode) on the server. If you are experiencing this problem on the LAN workstations, consult your local IT technician regarding below security bypass.

Solution:

Solution 1:  Copy the help files locally to the workstation and create a shortcut on the desktop

Solution 2: Must be implemented locally on the computer viewing the help files.  For remote sites, implement this solution on the terminal server.

Important: This article contains information about modifying the registry. Before you modify the registry, make sure to back it up and make sure that you understand how to restore the registry if a problem occurs. Compulink recommends that you contact your network administrator or local technician before implementing the following solution.

STEP 1: Modify the ItssRestrictions registry entry to enable a specific security zone

Warning Enable only those security zones that you trust. Do not enable security zones about which you are not sure.

An exported key is available for download below.  Adding this key to all workstations will resolve this issue on Local Area Networks.

NOTE: After download, rename the below file to ItssRestrictions.reg and double click to modify registry. (reboot not necessary)

ItssRestrictions.rename (Extract and rename to ItssRestrictions.reg)

If the above registry fix does not resolve the issue, the MaxAllowedZone can be changed according to the chart below. Download the file below to increase the MaxAllowedZone to 4:

htmlhelp.rename (Extract and rename to htmlhelp.reg)

OR
