CASH DRAWER INSTALLATION OVER A WAN FOR WINDOWS 2000

Feature:

Client will be able to use cash drawer over WAN connection by adding a simple Environment Variable (SET statement) “CashDrawFlagFile” and a INI file.

Program Name:  EquipInt.dl

CAUTION: DO NOT PROCEED WITH THE INSTALLATION UNLESS EVERYONE HAS SUCCESSFULLY EXITED ADVANTAGE SOFTWARE.

Installation:

Replace the current ‘EQUIPINI.DLL’ in Compulink product directory.

This file can be downloaded from:

http://www.compulink-support.com/downloads.htm#CashDrawer

Setup:

  1. On the local machine, add a Generic / Text Only printer, assign the printer the COM port used by the cash drawer, i.e. COM1. You can name the printer  CashDrawer. The printer name must be different for multiple cash drawers.
  1. Create* and add the following entry to the CashDraw.ini and place in product directory:

                [PRINTERSETUP]

                PrinterName=XXXXXX**

* Creating this file is only necessary for multiple cash drawers. If you do not create CashDraw.ini, the software will create one for you when you run it for the first time.

The default printer name that this file uses will be 'CashDrawer' – i.e. [PrinterName=CashDrawer].

** 'XXXXXX' is the name of the generic/text printer that was created in the Printer Properties of the local machine and will show up under Terminal Services mode as a session printer.

  1. In Terminal Server session, add the variable name CashDrawFlagFile in user variables section.  For multiple cash drawers, the variable value will be different based on the printer name, otherwise the variable value will be the default CashDraw.ini.  DO NOT PUT THIS VARIABLE UNDER SYSTEM VARIABLE IF THERE ARE MULTIPLE CASH DRAWERS.

NOTE:

-- Generic / Text Only printer will be automatically added in Terminal Services as a session printer as long as printer mapping is used.

-- Be sure the extension of '.INI' is added to the user variable value.

-- The printer name is CASE SENSITIVE. Please make sure that the name that you use is exactly the SAME as the one in Printer Properties Windows locally.

-- This feature will only affect the Terminal Server Session that have Environment Variables added.  You will be able to combine this feature with normal cash drawer operation on the Local Area Network.
