How to reinstall ADS version 6.x after installing ADS version 7.x Problem: After uninstalling ADS 7.x and installing 6.x, client is receiving errors when starting the "Advantage DataBase Service". Solution: If ADS version 7.x has been installed and client needs to go back to 6.x version, the "Compression" and "disable free connection" option in the Windows registry need to be deleted before the 6.x will work correctly. In order to fix this issue, the following key needs to be deleted in the Windows registry: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\Advantage After deleting this key, restart the computer and proceed with the installation of 6.x version. |
